My approach to healing

The nervous system is wise, not broken.

Your nervous system is wise, not broken. Trauma put you into survival mode. Those freeze, fight, fawn responses, the moments you shut down, are not flaws. Those are remarkable protective instincts that kept you safe when you needed it most. These parts of yourself deserve to be acknowledged and heard. My goal is to help you approach these parts with deep curiosity, gratitude, and respect for all that you went through. The work is going back to map out what happened and help your brain reprocess the experience and let it go.

Three truths that guide my work

Healing doesn’t have to be slow or brutal.

There is a misconception that deep trauma work means years of painfully re-living your past. That isn’t true. With Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), healing can be gentle and swift. EMDR is a highly respected and highly effective brain-based therapy, helping trauma survivors release decades of shame, flashbacks, and hypervigilance, and experience rapid relief. This modality is backed by decades of research, trusted by leading trauma experts worldwide, and endorsed by organizations like the VA, WHO, and APA.

Full recovery is possible with the right tools.

Full recovery is not just possible, it’s predictable when we use the right tools gently and with care. Once those memories are cleared and the trauma is fully processed, the shame, hypervigilance, and survival-mode exhaustion will be released. What returns is the calm, joy, self-trust, and deep sense of worthiness that was always yours. In every session, expect warmth, curiosity, and collaboration. By using EMDR's bilateral stimulation (BLS) method, we can reactivate the brain’s innate healing powers to soften old wounds and bring peace back into your body.

How we heal together

My work centers on EMDR, the gentle, brain-based therapy that helps your nervous system finish processing stuck memories, turning down the volume on shame, flashbacks, and hypervigilance.

For trauma recovery, we go straight to the root so the past can stop hijacking your present, creating space for calm, connection, and a body that finally feels safe. We will map your nervous system and identify the parts of yourself that remain stuck, helping to rewire your brain and orient it towards safety in all relationships, starting with the one you have with yourself.

For eating disorder recovery, or when trauma shows up as food and body struggles, we approach your healing with a weight-inclusive, Health at Every Size® (HAES®) lens. By understanding and rejecting diet culture, we heal the underlying nervous-system wounds and protective strategies that turn to restriction, bingeing, or control for safety. As the trauma settles, food often becomes neutral again, eating becomes intuitive, and your body begins to feel like a gentle home without rules, shame, or scales.

I will use other tools including ACT, DBT skills, motivational interviewing, attachment-focused and strength-based care, as needed. The way we work together is tailored to you, at your pace – compassionate, realistic, and always hopeful.

My personal commitment to clients

Working with clients, I will never ask you to “just manage” symptoms when I know true freedom is within reach. I will meet you exactly where you are – with warmth, no judgment, and the patience your healing deserves.
